Mozilla Firefox

Internet for people, not profit

Smaller & Faster

Mozilla Firefox was created in 2002 and was praised for its speed, security and add-ons. In comparison to Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6 at the time.

Firefox stands as the fourth most used web browser in the market, falling behind Chrome, Safari and Microsoft Edge.

The spiritual successor of Netscape

Firefox was created by the Mozilla community and seen as the successor to Netscape, as the then popular browser was acquired by AOL.

Firefox answers to no one but you

Firefox is an open source web browser that is available to the public. Whilst it isn't the most popular browser, Firefox strives in key areas for data and privacy concerned individuals. The browser puts the user first and offers an array of privacy and security settings to keep the user at ease.
Firefox is often seen as the internets knight in shining armour, as Mozilla is a non-profit organisation. They do not make profits from user information or advertising. The browser is also praised for only sending statistical data that is non-intrusive and anonymous to help make Firefox a better browser. Tracking protection is also incorporated to ensure that the user is not tracked across multiple sites, something that Facebook and Google are well known for.
YD&PM aims to educate users on the best practices online, and switching to Firefox is highly recomended from a privacy perspective. The browser enables key settings such as enhanced tracking protection by default, meaning tech literate users do not have to configure the browser to protect themselves online.
Mozilla are passionate about protecting users and accessing the internet freely. Recent updates have pushed the browser to be even faster and fluid, allowing users to get on with their tasks. The browsers engine has been optimised to use up to 30% less memory than competing browsers, so if the user is on a less powerful machine, switching to a light browser such as Firefox is essential. This will help free up system resources and allow the machine to run faster.
Users who care about customisation and extensions will find much to enjoy on Firefox. Due to the platform being open source, developers have integrated many options for users to tinekr with, finding the best look and feel for their browser. Combining this with the default focus on privacy, Firefox comes across as a powerhouse in the market. Sadly, due to the Google Chrome dominance, the browser is often overlooked and disregarded. The first step to protecting yourself online is to use a browser that cares about the users privacy, not a browser that harvests user information.
Unfortunately, Chrome will continue to be the powerhouse it is, until users begin to pay more attention to the alternatives. Browers such as Firefox, Opera and Edge are also competing in this space, which makes the market harder for Mozilla to obtain.
